>> Festival Walk is a huge shopping center that is located at the Kowloon Tong MTR station that not many foreign tourists knew exists. Kowloon Tong was once famed / tarnished for its hospitality as a high end sexcapade venue.
However these days, this area is bustling with university students that studies at the City University that is situated next to Festival Walk. This area also hosts many foreign missionary schools. As for Festival Walk, it occupies three lower ground levels and three levels above ground. This shopping center hosts many branded goods such as Hollister, H&M, Coach, Agnes B and so much more. When you are hungry, there's plenty of cuisines for you to savour.
Festival Walk has a cinema, a skating ring and also a food court, which makes it a complete shopping and entertainment paradise for the locals. Personally, I would rather take a 20 minute train ride to this place from my parent's rented home to shop rather than to shop within the Tsim Sha Tsui or Central vicinity where mainland chinese throng those places regularly. My personal experience with them were mostly unpleasant in many circumstances.
Even the locals felt that their presence is very much annoying and very intimidating. Now... this post is not to talk about Festival Walk nor about those mainland chinese (I would have plenty to write for those if I don't stop). My dad suggests the family to try Lanna Thai Cuisine for lunch on that day. He told us that his past experience eating there were rather positive. Lanna Thai Cuisine is situated at level 1 and as I made my way to the restaurant for lunch.
To my surprise the restaurant is rather packed with customers on a weekday during lunch hour. The restaurant runs set lunches and also set dinners. I remember that I had to run down to the car in the basement with all the shopping bags and by the time I'm back, food is already on the table. That's roughly about 15 minutes or so. That was fast despite what the family ordered are not those set lunches that they offered. As everyone were hungry, they've ordered a lot.
There's an order of pickled raddish omelette, stir fried lotus flower with brocolli, kerabu chicken feet, half portion of braised chicken, stir fried mix vegetables and stir fried minced pork thai style. I made an extra order of Pineapple Fried Rice when I returned to my seat. Plain rice ain't going to cut it at that moment. The food were averagely okay I guess because it's Thai with plenty of spices here and there.
You can find better braised chicken in any of the street side restaurants. No excuses for us to be ordering these in a Thai restaurant. By the time the fried rice arrived, the family were hesitating to help me finish the pineapple bowled fried rice. A bit oily but the strong pineapple taste forgives all the spices from the other dishes. I believe that it's a one time only experience and I feel that I should be thanking for such a fine meal to my parents on that day. Returning for second? Probably not...
